Trackers Policy
1. Background
As the Werugo mobile application is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), it does not use HTTP cookies in the traditional sense of websites. It does, however, rely on technical identifiers and local storage mechanisms that are strictly necessary for its operation. For the sake of transparency, and in accordance with Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC ("ePrivacy Directive"), this page describes these mechanisms.
2. Trackers Used
| Tracker / identifier | Purpose | Duration | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication session token | Keeping the user's session active | Until logout or revocation | No — strictly necessary |
| FCM Token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Delivering transactional push notifications | Duration of the account or until uninstall | Yes for marketing notifications |
| Local storage (SharedPreferences / NSUserDefaults) | Storing preferences (language, theme, favourites, onboarding) | Until the App is removed | No — strictly necessary |
| Firestore local cache | Performance and offline use of certain data | Until expiry or cache clearing | No — strictly necessary |
| Stripe identifiers | Secure payment processing and fraud prevention | In line with Stripe's policy | No — necessary for contract performance |
3. No Advertising Trackers
Werugo does not use any advertising SDK, any behavioural analytics tool or any cross-app tracking mechanism. No advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android) is used by Werugo.
On iOS, the App does not trigger the App Tracking Transparency prompt, as no tracking is performed for advertising purposes.
4. Analytics and Audience Measurement
As of today, Werugo does not integrate any analytics tool such as Google Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics or similar. Should we later decide to integrate an audience measurement tool, it would be configured in strict compliance with GDPR/ePrivacy requirements (exemption from consent for anonymous measurement, or prior collection of consent otherwise), and this page would be updated accordingly.
5. How to Manage Your Preferences
- Push notifications: can be enabled / disabled from the App settings or the system settings of your device.
- Location: can be revoked at any time from your device's system settings.
- Advertising identifier reset (not used by Werugo but managed by the OS): via iOS or Android settings.
- Deleting all local data: by uninstalling the App or deleting your account (see Account Deletion).
6. Updates
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the App and regulations. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of the document. If a new tracker subject to consent is introduced, a dedicated banner will be shown when opening the App to collect consent.
